Why it is different

Free means free

Not a trial, not a free tier with the useful parts behind a paywall. Every exercise, every calculator, every export is there the moment you install it, and it stays that way.

It cannot phone home

Strongest does not request Android's internet permission. That is not a promise in a policy document — the app has no route to the network, so there is nowhere for your training log to go.

Check the work yourself

The whole app is MIT licensed and public on GitHub. If you want to know what it does with your data, you can read it rather than trust it.

Everything in the box

520 exercises, tagged properly

Every major muscle group plus cardio and stretching. Each exercise carries its equipment, its instructions and whether it is compound, isolation or isometric. Add your own when your gym has something odd.

Logging that keeps up

Start empty or from a routine. Warm-up, drop and failure sets. Your previous session sits inline on every row, so you always know the number to beat.

A rest timer that runs itself

Starts the moment you tick a set off. Set your own alert sound, and skip or nudge it from the notification shade without unlocking your phone.

Plate calculator

What to load per side, using the plates your gym actually owns. It remembers the bar per exercise, so a machine stays set up the way you left it.

1RM and warm-up maths

Estimate a one-rep max with Epley, Brzycki or both, with a 1–12 rep target table. Generate 50/70/85% warm-up sets from your working weight.

Cardio on the clock

Cardio machines log a duration in mm:ss rather than a rep count, with the level you rode at — so a 30 minute row is recorded as exactly that.

Progress you can read

Volume and set graphs over 7 days to a year, automatic personal records, and per-muscle recovery windows showing what is ready to train again.

Routines worth reusing

Unlimited routines, organised into groups for your splits. Share one as a file and import it back — handy for a training partner or a coach.

Your data, portable

Export history to Excel for your own analysis, or back the entire app up to a JSON file you keep. Nothing is locked in.

Questions

Is Strongest really free?

Yes. Every feature is available from the first launch. There is no premium tier, no subscription, no trial period and no advertising.

Does the workout tracker work offline?

It only works offline. Strongest does not request the Android INTERNET permission, so it cannot reach the network at all. Everything runs from your device, in the gym basement with no signal included.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no login and no profile on a server. Open the app and start logging.

Where is my training data stored?

In a local database on your phone. You can export your history to an Excel file, back the whole app up to a JSON file, or remove everything by uninstalling. See the privacy policy for the detail.

Can I track cardio as well as lifting?

Yes. Cardio exercises log a duration on the clock instead of a rep count, alongside the level or resistance you used.

Does it support kg and lbs?

Both, switchable at any time. The setting applies everywhere you enter or read a weight, including the plate calculator, which keeps a separate plate inventory per unit.

Is Strongest open source?

Yes, MIT licensed, with the full source on GitHub. The privacy claims on this page are ones you can verify for yourself.

Which Android versions are supported?

Android 8.0 (Oreo) and newer.
